New QBs

What new faces will be under center for week three?

Seneca Wallace and Shaun Hill were decent this week filling in for injured QBs. Michael Vick looked like his old self.

For week three, the Steelers job remains up for grabs. If Dennis Dixon is healthy, he should be there. If not, Byron Leftwhich could return, or Tomlin could go with Charlie Batch.

We just found out Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the new passer for the Bills offense, and rookie Jimmy Clausen will make his debut for Carolina. We saw Vince Young get benched for Kerry Collins but the Titans assured everyone Young would be back in next week.

Other guys who may be on a hot seat include Derek Anderson in Arizona. The Cardinals fell in love with Max Hall in the preseason and we might see him sooner than later. Also keep an eye on Matt Cassel in Kansas City. Yes the team is 2-0 but he has a sub-60 passer rating. He might be saved because his backup is the unimpressive Brodie Croyle.

So that’s nine teams with issues under center. From that group, who is useful? The question is really about how deep your league is. In 10-team leagues, I wouldn’t touch anyone listed above. In a 12-team league, Young and Vick should be owned but not started. In deeper leagues (like my 14-teamer) many of them are already owned, but if you have a roster spot, consider stashing Hall. It’s impossible to know who will start in Pittsburgh, but with Dixon’s injury, it seems Roethlisberger will be the starter when he is eligible. I would say Young and Cassel are safe for now. Carolina and Buffalo look like revolving doors. And in Philly, when Kolb is healthy, Andy Reid wants to put him back in there so Vick’s days might be numbered.
