Here are some guys worth taking a very hard look at when it comes to adding free agents, especially in deeper leagues when the cupboards are bare of useful players.
Matt Flynn, out of LSU, would start at quarterback if Aaron Rodgers‘ concussion keeps him sidelined week six. He wouldn’t be worth playing in a 10 or 12 team league, but in deeper or multi-positional leagues, he is a decent fill-in.
Mike Hart is one guy everyone needs to be aware of. Joseph Addai went down with a shoulder injury, Hart came in and tallied 11 carries for 50 yards and a game-winning touchdown. With Donald Brown still out with a hamstring injury, if Addai is limited, Hart might be a pleasant surprise.
It’s surprising Danny Amendola is owned in just 12% of ESPN leagues, but he has grabbed at least four receptions in each game. With Mark Clayton done for the season, Amendola looks like Sam Bradford’s new favorite target. He grabbed 12 balls on Sunday for 95 yards.
The Panthers just grabbed WR Devin Thomas off waivers and he might start immediately. Even with Jimmy Clausen under center, there are targets available in Carolina.
In 14+ leagues, these guys are all useful. And in smaller leagues, keep a watchful eye on them and the situations of those ahead of them.
