Week 8 injuries

Tony Romo is out for 6-8 weeks, which means he could be back in time for the last couple weeks of the season. For now, Jon Kitna is under center for the Cowboys.

Brett Favre will play week eight. No, the team hasn’t confirmed it and no, I can’t guarantee it. But the fact he played the rest of the game after fracturing his ankle means essentially he will play as long as he can handle the pain, and Favre is one of the best at that. As far as fantasy value, I’ve hated him since week one, so this just adds to your reasons to do everything you can to not have #4 in your starting lineup, but if you own him, he is probably your best option.

Matthew Stafford will be back under center for the Lions this week aginst Washington. The Redskins have a horrendous pass defense, so he should produce decent numbers. He isn’t a starter in 12-team leagues, but is useful in deeper leagues or as a bye-week fill in.

Steven Jackson is on the injury report again. He had surgery to put a pin in his ring finger which will allow the joint to heal. All indications are he will play week eight, but with this much wear and tear, its only a matter of time before the big one hits.

With a bye week in week nine, Vince Young might be given one more week of rest. He is currently listed as questionable, but a nagging injury to Kerry Collins might force the Titans hand here.

Michael Vick is on a bye this week and should be back starting for the Eagles week nine. But with Andy Reid’s track record, Kevin Kolb shouldn’t be abandoned yet.

Clinton Portis has been ruled out of week eight at Detroit. This decision is made easier by the awesome play of Ryan Torain in his absence. Portis might come back to find himself splitting carries.

Comgin off a bye, Jahvid Best is back playing for the Lions. He is not 100% but is worth starting in 12 team leagues as an explosive #2 RB.

Malcom Floyd and Austin Collie have been ruled out of week eight games. With Vincent Jackson’s return nearing, the window may be closing to get value for Floyd.
