Week 15 review

Posted: December 22, 2010 in Fantasy Football

Emails I got yesterday and today….

Brian/Utah: Fantasy X-Man, so you have said all year to hang onto Kevin Kolb because he would be back. Vick looks like an MVP contender. I’ve wasted a spot on my roster all year.

Nate/Maine: DUDE! I passed up a chance to get Vick way back when because you said it wouldnt last.

Megan/Arizona: So, I traded Vick in week three because you said to sell high.

All I can say is, yes I was wrong about Vick this season. He looks like the most explosive fantasy contributor in football right now. But other guys were impressive too.

First of all, as wrong as I was about Vick, I was right about Tim Tebow. 138 passing yards and one touchdown is good. Add 78 yards and a touchdown rushing ( 40-yard score for those of you who get bonuses) and he had an awesome week. Any multi-QB leagues should be starting him now. I’ve been saying all year he would be useful. You had to be happy with Matt Flynn and his 231 yards and three scores. Rex Grossman was the shocking second highest scoring QB in fantasy this week with 322 yards and four scores, showing coach Mike Shanahan still knows what he is doing. Matt Ryan also threw three touchdowns and hopefully we’ve finally seen the last of Brett Favre.

Ray Rice had 233 yards and two touchdowns and that saved many of your seasons who are still reading. Jamaal Charles had 126 yards and a touchdown… on just 11 carries. Funny stat that is typical for football this year. Only nine backs were over 100 yards with a touchdown and three of them were Donald Brown, Maurice Morris, and LeGarrette Blount. Peyton Hillis was held under 10 points for the third consecutive week.

Vincent Jackson made his splash on Thursday night with over 100 yards and three touchdowns. Mario Manningham had 112 and two scores, enjoying Steve Smith‘s absence who went on IR this week. Brandon Marshall finally played like we all expected, with 106 yards on 11 receptions and a touchdown. Larry Fitzgerald and Kenny Britt both topped 125 yards, but didn’t score. And Calvin Johnson notched 152 without a touchdown. Steve Johnson got back to the end zone with 69 yards and a score. After two empty weeks in a row, Dwayne Bowe thrilled owners with a whopping two receptions for 53 yards.

Congrats if you came out of that mayhem with a win. Keep checking back for updates throughout the week.
