The Name Power Scam

Posted: May 20, 2011 in Fantasy Baseball

I just had a frustrating negotiation with a guy who declined one of my trade offers that included Doug Fister. He says to me “Fister is nothing.” For those of you not paying attention, Fister has a 2.93 ERA through 58.1 innings. This is his third year and his other numbers are consistent.

Don’t fall into the trap of looking at names and dismissing numbers. With the injuries I sustained early in the season, I had to build my team on guys like Justin Masterson, Sergio Santos, Jordan Walden, Tyson Ross… guys that would have been called “nothing” preseason but are now major producers.

You should never decline any offer without looking at each players numbers.
