Big Sunday from Largely Unowned Players

Posted: May 22, 2011 in Fantasy Baseball

Dodgers’ rookie Jerry Sands is now 4-4 with a double and a stolen base. His batting average hasn’t been great, but he’s stealing bases, scoring runs, over half his hits have gone for extra bases, and he isn’t striking out much. There is value here, especially for points leagues. And soon those doubles, of which he has 10 now, will start clearing fences.

Tigers’ starter Rick Porcello allowed just one hit over eight innings in a win over Pittsburgh. He has now allowed two or less runs in six straight starts. And he’s getting run support, winning four of his last five starts.

Angels’ starter Tyler Chatwood just finished his seventh inning of work against he Braves. He has struck out six and only allowed one earned run.

Cardinals’ catcher Yadier Molina has four hits, two RBI and two runs scored so far today against the Royals.

  1. I feel like I alway get unlucky with these players! I owned Porcello last year, base on his great rookie season. What does he do? He stinks it up, gets sent down, and finally I drop him. This year, I had a chance to draft him, but I pass him up and look how he’s doing now.
