Prince Fielder has signed for nine years and $214 million with the Detroit Tigers according to CBSSports.com.
Assuming its true, are we seeing the beginning of a super-team trend like we have in the NBA? Would you rather have Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Justin Verlander, or Roy Halladay/Cliff Lee/Cole Hamels or Mark Teixeira/CC Sabathia/Robinson Cano or Adrian Gonzalez/Dustin Pedroia/Carl Crawford……… the top teams seem to stockpiling stars through free agency hauls, similar to the NBA trend.
When Victor Martinez comes back from injury in 2013, the Tigers will have some interesting decisions, unless they think Cabrera can go back to being a third baseman. I’m skeptical.
